Finger Lakes Festival

After our exhibition race against Steel City at the Three Rivers Regatta, our next racing adventure will be at the Finger Lakes International Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, July 15th. The following Paddlefish are on the roster: Ann, Bob, Carolyn, Carolyn, Frank, Jack, Jeanne, Jim, Joei, Judy L, Judy R, Kathi, Kim, Kit, Kris, Lindsey, Lisa, Lori, Marie, Marie, Mina, Rich, and Stefani.

If your name is listed but you no longer plan to attend, please let Rich know right away.

Finger Lakes International Dragon Boat Festival, July 15, 2006

Friday, July 14:
Out of town Teams to arrive and
Check-In to Clarion hotel by 4:30pm

Multicultural Drum Fest on the Ithaca Commons, Bernie Milton Pavilion, 6:00pm

Dine on your own (See list of area restaurants in your welcome packet upon arrival)

Saturday, July 15:
Breakfast on your own, 6:00-8:00am

Shuttles depart the Clarion to Cornell/Ithaca College Boat House at 8:00am, 8:20, and 8:40am with last one departing the Clarion at 9:00am.

NOTE: Only one car per team may be permitted to park at the site. Please pick up parking passes when checking-in.

Local teams are expected to carpool, bike, walk, take the bus to the farmer's market

Team captains meet for 8:30am captain's meeting in front of the boathouse

All team members are expected to arrive to the boathouse by 9:00am

Welcome remarks and ceremonial dotting of the eyes begin at 9:00am at the boathouse

First race begins at 9:45am, and every 15 minutes thereafter.

We'll break for lunch at 12:30pm.


The adjacent farmer's market provides plenty of meal choices or you can walk over to Cass Park for Thai and Cuban cuisines and check out the festivity from the other shore.

Racing resumes at 1:15pm, and heats continue at 15 minute intervals.

We expect to conclude the festivity around 5:00pm

Shuttles will take athletes back to the hotel starting at 4:20, 4:40, 5:00, 5:20, 5:40

Dinner on your own, 6:00-7:30pm
Reception/Championship

Crowning/Party at the Clarion Ballroom, 7:30-12:00am with cash bar

Sunday, July 16:
Visit the various gorges in the area and see why Ithaca is Gorges
Do the Finger Lakes Wine Tour on Cayuga or the Seneca Lake Wine trail or better yet, to see all of them in one place, visit the Finger Lakes Wine Festival at the Watkins Glen Race Track (30-40 minutes drive from Ithaca)
Take a stroll on Cornell or Ithaca College campus
Golf on Cornell's Robert Trent Jones Golf course (see Siv for more details and tee times)
