Moraine Retreat

Thanks to Ben's great coaching work and the logistic crew's great organizational efforts, we had a wonderful weekend at Moraine State Park. We learned a lot about the relationship between a paddle, a boat, and some water -- and we learned a lot about ourselves. I really appreciate everyone who was there helping to make this a wonderful team experience.

Some highlights: Lori's coffeepot, swallows on the lake, Kate's cake, Kathi's patience with my steering us in circles, the 360-degree races, Bob's weightlifting grab bag (and sword), Cabin 8's hospitality, Jen's determined analysis of the team star challenge, Ben's patience, and paddling in the Sunday morning snow with the geese (AKA "poopers") and the osprey.

The Splash rides again..... Posted by Hello

Practice Tonight

Practice tonight will be indoors. Get a good warm-up and stretch (this should take 15 to 20 minutes), then move to the weight room for push-ups, hangs or pull-ups, and crunches.

Then move to the ergs -- do four 2000 meter pieces at a steady pace (control!)-- in other words, try to hit the same time for each of the four 2Ks.

We're back on the water on Saturday.

Safety Meeting

We talked briefly last night about the upcoming safety meeting -- here's the specific info on this. Please do come if you can!

There will be an additional Safety meeting for those who missed the last two. It will be held in the lounge at Washington’s Landing, April 12, 6 pm. The TRRA Safety Committee made rule modifications over the winter, so it is in everyone’s interest to attend these meetings. It is absolutely mandatory for all coaches and crew captains to attend a safety meeting.

Water Warriors

Cheers to everyone who braved the Pittsburgh version of spring weather on Saturday to take the boat out for our inaugural on-the-water-season paddle! (And special paddle-waving cheers to Bob for steering through the muck and eddies!!!)
