Start Times for Practices in October

Some folks are interested in exploring the idea of starting practices a little bit earlier in October so that we have more light during our remaining on-the-water time. Would you let me know how you feel about this? Would you be able to make it to practice by 6? 6:15?

Our official start time is 6:30, so if starting before that means someone can't do it, we won't change the start time! But if an earlier time works for everyone, we could get a little more daylight in our paddling.

6:00 would be tough for me---but I can shoot for 6:15.

Joei cannot make it at 6. We can try for 6:15 but that will also be tight unless we develop a quicker routine to get her in from work and ready to leave for practice.

While a number of people can be there for a 6:15 start time, others can't get to the boat house till our official 6:30 start time.

So starting next week, why don't we try this: people who can be there by 6:15 will come then and get the boat down to the water. Folks who come at 6:30 should come straight down to the docks (bring your PFD with you, but we'll make sure there are paddles in the boat) and we'll launch the boat then.

If you have concerns about this approach, just let me know.

New paddlers: you'll want gloves or pogies pretty soon. A number of us have ordered gloves through Camp-Mor; REI and Exkursions may have pogies (paddle mittens).

Wool socks are good, and fleece pants. It'll be awhile before it gets that cold, but wanted to give you a heads-up.....
